A lot of important conversations and discussions came up while speaking at SWaMfest last year. One is around how to determine which government agencies purchase your services?

Being successful in government contracting requires time to do homework, persistence with follow-up, visibility with the right decision-makers and the ability to demonstrate expertise.

Because these activities must be done on a monthly, if not weekly basis, it’s best to target the government agencies that have the greatest likelihood to procure your services.

This means where you or your business development person spend their time can mean the difference between success and failure because contracting officers are more likely to choose contractors that have spent their time establishing a relationship with them to avoid risk.

Here are a couple of ways to determine who buys what you sell:

- Visiting Beta SAM Gov https://beta.sam.gov/
- Visting USA Spending https://lnkd.in/eKnnQD2
- Attending industry days
- Researching industry associations with government involvement
