The Role of Content in Marketing Has Changed

Whenever I am asked to speak to a group of small business owners about marketing online, I always suggest content (blogs, video, graphics, etc) as the launching point to enter the online world.

More often than not someone in the crowd will remark, “I don’t read blogs”, “nobody has time for that”, “why would I want to start producing content”.

I then proceed to explain, it’s not marketing folks that are dictating this, it’s your customers.

Every day prospective customers go online to search for products, services, companies, solutions, and answers. It’s your customer’s buying process and if you show up you get an opportunity to earn that business.

When a prospective customer wants to do business with a company they have the time for and want to get information about the products, services, mission and etc.
