What I KNOW in Marketing, I LEARNED from Engineering
I would say a lot of my thoughts around marketing as a process today come from concepts I learned working in the engineering field as a 20yr old professional.
One of the things I learned from the engineering world that relates to marketing is the importance of effective implementation.
Even the best-laid plans can go wrong if there isn’t proper coordination, proper resources, proper funding, and proper knowledge.
Make sure you not only have the right marketing plan in place but the right resources and relationships needed to successfully implement it.
If you don’t have the ability to implement in-house, partner with an outside resource that does.
Another Lesson
Back in my days working in the engineering field. I noticed engineers and architects made decisions based on the information they had at that moment in time but when new information was presented they made a new decision.
Just like engineering, in business prospects make decisions based on the information they have. And that decision doesn’t change unless there’s new information that allows for a new decision.
What most owners and CEOs of small businesses miss is if you want a prospect to make a new decision about your product, service, subscription, or solution you must present them with new information.
If you don’t, then with the same information they have they never make a new decision.
