What is the difference between a benefit and a feature?
Most owners and CEOs of small businesses often confuse features with benefits.
It’s important to differentiate between them:
- Features are the things inherent in your product or service.
- Benefits are what the buyer gets from your product or service.
What are some examples of product benefits and features?
For example, we work with a local tree service that feels like owning a 300-pound piece of equipment is a benefit. They invested a lot of money into purchasing it.⠀
After interviewing their customers we spotted the following in several responses — “They never damage my yard and always clean up when they’re done.”
Turns out that their equipment is a feature but keeping their customer’s front and back yards looking beautiful is the benefit.
